Welcome to Chicken Coop
Forge
Adirondack Blacksmiths
The
Chicken Coop Forge is artist-owned and operated by Jeannette Brandt and
Mike Parwana in the Adirondack Mountains of New York State.
Our interest in blacksmithing quickly turned from a hobby shop in
the backyard chicken coop of our home in Lake Luzerne into a career as
full time smiths. Our studio is now located near West Mountain in Glens
Falls, NY on the southeast corner of the Adirondack Park and only about
a mile from the Adirondack Northway (I-87).
We create commissioned heirloom-quality ornamental ironwork using
traditional forging methods and modern techniques. This includes a wide
variety of traditional and contemporary products forged in iron, steel,
bronze and copper based on our design or our customers' ideas and
personal style.
We accept commissions for individual pieces or we can provide
coordinated furnishings for an entire home or business.
Approximate lead times are quoted per piece...generally about 3
months from date of order. Please keep this in mind while planning your
project and allow for design time as well.
We welcome visitors to our working studio but as our schedule of
shows and installations varies, it is best to call our studio phone at
(518) 798-9174 for an appointment and directions.
"Chicken Coop Forge, in Lake
Luzerne, is a treat for anyone who believes that blacksmithing is a
bygone creative form."
- Adirondack Life Magazine
"The sculptures of Mike Parwana and
Jeannette Brandt are noble things. But so, too, are their lamps and
firescreens, which is no surprise. After all, the meaning of the Greek
word for noble is "beautiful and good"."
